About Danielle

Art has been a passion for my entire life. I grew up always creating. Since the age of 6, I have been drawing and painting. My family would sell creations at craft and Renaissance fairs. After years of working in other endeavors, I returned to this passion to bring my works to life and share them with others in my own, unique style. It is important to me to carry on the tradition in my own way and bring beauty and creativity to others. I now share this love of creativity with my own daughter. I enjoy painting with acrylics because they are far more washable and dry far faster than oil paints. My first medium for painting was oil, though and I may return to it at some point. I’m influenced by Chinese and Japanese brush painting. I love this unique style, but I prefer to use the medium of acrylic.

I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I still reside here with my husband, Dr. Mark Matesich, and our daughter, Haley. My daughter and I share a painting space so that we can create together. She is always creating something! Nature is the main subject that I like to paint. The beauty of flowers, birds and animals is something that inspires me in my work. I love that I can create a painting and then make other creations from my original painting. This allows me to never feel like my painting is gone forever. I love to sell my originals and items made from my originals, whether that be canvas bags, mugs, prints or aprons.

I love to give back to my community.

I work with The Truth About Drugs in order to educate people about the harmful effects of drugs. I believe you can be truly happy and creative without artificial substances that are harmful to the body.

This past year, we have collaborated with Artists for a Better World to spread a message of peace and human rights. This is so important in our current culture. My art was featured on the 2022 calendar and we were featured in the promotion for the World Art Day showcase.

With my daughter Haley, we collected toys for Toys for Joy to ensure we could help children have a great holiday season who otherwise may not have. My daughter Haley was acknowledged for all of her help with this by Byron Brown, the Mayor of Buffalo.

We also work with Youth For Human Rights International to educate youth about their human rights. It is so important that every person knows their human rights and are able to stand up for themselves by knowing the rights they are entitled to.
